CT, CSBC, and Bladt Announced Collaboration in Offshore Wind Power Foundation Market in Taiwan

Century Iron and Steel Industry Co., Ltd. (CT, 世紀鋼鐵結構股份有限公司)’s subsidiary “Century Wind Power Co., Ltd.” (CWP, 世紀離岸風電設備股份有限公司), CSBC Cooperation (台灣國際造船股份有限公司), and Danish company Bladt Industries A/S announced on 22nd, November, 2017, that three parties will start the collaboration together in the offshore wind power foundation market in Taiwan.

Currently the Taiwanese Government has clearly specified the goal for the wind power market is to achieve a None-Nuclear Homeland by the offshore wind power installation.

The first target is to finish the installation of the wind power facilities with up to 5.5GW electricity in the potential wind farm by the year, 2025. Based on this structure, we would be able to estimate the appropriate wind farm development in the territorial sea of Taiwan causes a great effect in the future. In the meantime, more and more international wind power manufacturers are enthusiastically setting up the offices in Taiwan, in order to proceed with the wind farm evaluation at different development stages.

In addition, the government hopes that through the offshore wind power construction, it will create the job opportunities via gradually importing the upgrade of technique and capability to be localized. By the promote of the wind power market, we estimate in the next few years, CWP and CSBC will be a part of the strategies and targets for the offshore wind power infrastructure manufacture and installation. For the expansion of the market, CWP and CSBC hope to work with the experienced European partners and consultants as the collaboration alliance to help CT and CSBC build up the corresponding plans for the engineering technique, quality, capability, and fundamental production line.

We estimate the first project will be initiated the fabrication in 2019. The collaboration of CT, CSBC, and Bladt has the important value and meaning among each other, and we will start the foundation manufacture and Transition Piece (TP) assembly for the offshore wind power equipment in Taiwan.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed up among CT, CSBC, and Bladt includes the following points:

1.      Three-Party Collaboration: Manufacture based on the underwater foundation, Jackets, and Transition Piece (TP) assembly in the offshore wind power market in Taiwan.

2.      Set up the joint venture agreement during the cooperation in the future, and the joint venture agreement will replace the current MOU. CWP will establish the joint venture to proceed with this project.

3.      Focus on the substructure Jacket fabrication, assembly, and Transition Piece. Bladt will provide the project management, technique support, and participate in management and operation of the joint venture.

4.      CWP will be the main shareholder of the joint venture and prepare the essential equipment accordingly. Bladt will bring the joint venture the reputation, sales, customer relationship, and abundant professional knowledge and experience in the offshore wind power market.
