Anomaly Control and Prevention

n   Occupational Disease Prevention

The company has a responsibility and obligation to prevent diseases resulting from various work-related factors and to protect workers from conditions that may be detrimental to their health. In the case of CT, traditional industrial production processes inevitably generate hazards such as high temperatures, noise, and dust. To manage the hazards and monitor the health of personnel in the work environment, “work environment monitoring” and “special health check-ups” are conducted. Furthermore, through hazard education and training, the use of personal protective equipment, and regular audits, the risk of personnel exposure to health hazards is significantly reduced, minimizing the probability of occupational diseases.

n   Overtime Work Control

In accordance with the Labor Standards Act, to prioritize employee health, the total daily working hours, including extended working hours, shall not exceed twelve hours. The total monthly extended working hours shall not exceed forty-six hours.

n   Disaster Reduction Plan

CT effectively implements the regulations of the Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Management System established by the Ministry of Labor. We first establish occupational safety and health objectives, and then utilize a management cycle of planning, implementation, inspection, and improvement to achieve comprehensive safety and health management, aiming to create a zero-accident work environment.

n   Safety Observation and Audit

The most important task in building a safety culture is to conduct regular inspections and proactively identify and correct unsafe behaviors of personnel on-site. It is essential to prioritize the improvement of the work environment and address unsafe conditions concerning equipment. In addition to the efforts of the Environmental Health and Safety team, all levels of supervisors are required to regularly visit the work areas to conduct inspections. Following the four steps of “improvement, planning, checking, and auditing” they review the behavior of personnel and the work environment, providing immediate encouragement and correction as necessary.

If an employee is found to be in violation of the Environmental Health and Safety Management Manual or engaged in unsafe behaviors or conditions, immediate communication and correction will take place, ensuring that operational safety is not compromised. Additionally, a deficiency notification will be issued to the respective unit, requiring supervisors, employees, and the unit itself to rectify the identified issues.

n   Environmental Inspection

In accordance with the “Occupational Safety and Health Act” and the “Implementation Regulations for Occupational Safety and Health Monitoring in Workplaces”, CT has developed the “Implementation Guidelines for Occupational Safety and Health Monitoring in Workplaces”. The company regularly engages qualified environmental monitoring agencies to conduct occupational safety and health monitoring in compliance with legal requirements. The monitoring results are analyzed to determine compliance with regulations, and any abnormalities are promptly addressed through engineering improvements to ensure the well-being of employees. The Company has established monitoring points in various areas and for different personnel, following the monitoring plan, which is conducted semi-annually. The monitoring parameters include dust, noise, organic solvents, carbon dioxide, and illuminance, totaling six items.

n   Safety Care

To enhance the awareness and capabilities of safety and health among grassroots colleagues and to foster mutual care in on-site work and transportation safety, Century Steel encourages all employees and collaborators to voluntarily and spontaneously communicate and assist others from a perspective of goodwill and equality. This aims to establish a culture of safety for all and further enhance the overall safety culture. Caring for the psychological well-being of colleagues is an integral part of Century Steel's environmental health and safety efforts. If an employee or collaborator exhibits signs of mental distress, sluggish behavior, or apparent intoxication, it is the responsibility of supervisors to show concern and take appropriate actions, following company procedures such as temporarily suspending work or providing guidance for seeking medical assistance.

n   Prevention Plan for Abnormal Workloads

Based on the prevention plan for abnormal workloads and the prevention plan for workplace unlawful infringements, an annual questionnaire survey is conducted using both online and paper-based formats. The questionnaire includes assessments such as workload assessment, burnout scale, brief health scale, risk assessment for unlawful infringements in performing duties, and assessment of violence and risks. Individuals identified as high-risk are then scheduled for consultations with on-site service physicians to provide further assistance in improving their situations.

l   Maternal health protection and assessment of workplace hazards

l   Occupational malfeasance in the workplace assessment and results verification

Results of the Abnormal Workload Assessment for 2022: Approximately 2 high-risk individuals and 20 moderate-risk individuals were identified. All individuals requiring interviews have completed interviews with on-site service physicians. It is recommended that interviewees have been provided with printed materials and received health guidance from health service nurses.
